Program 2023

The focus of this four-day workshop is on the programming models MPI and OpenMP. Hands-on sessions (in C and Fortran) will allow users to immediately test and understand the basic constructs of the Message Passing Interface (MPI) and the shared memory directives of OpenMP.

Setting: This course will take place on the venue of the computing centre of the University of Mainz. Detailed travel directions will be distributed to accepted participants prior to the course. Please note: Whilst open to anyone, enrolments from the German states Hessia and Rhineland-Palatinate as well as from academic institutions will be favoured. The organizers reserve the right to prioritize and to revoke non-eligible enrolments.

Content Level: 70% for beginners, 30% advanced.

  • Hardware architectures and parallel programming models
  • Parallel programming with Message Passing Interface (MPI-3) and OpenMP
  • Tools for performance optimization and parallel debugging

Language: The course language is English.

Prerequisites

Shell proficiency / C or Fortran programming skills
