Abstract submissions will be open from 07 July until 30 September 2025.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

We invite researchers, clinicians, and professionals to submit abstracts for presentation at the 3rd Pediatric Exercise Oncology Congress – PEOC × FORTEe 2026, taking place on in Mainz, Germany. Abstracts should present original work and contribute to advancing knowledge and practice in the field. Accepted abstracts will be presented in oral, rapid oral, or poster formats. Submission Rules & Limitations

  • Abstracts must be submitted online only; e-mail submissions are not accepted.
  • No fee is charged for submission.
  • Presentation type: Oral or Poster (all presenters must attend in person).
  • Maximum two abstracts as first/presenting author; unlimited as co-author.
  • Work must be unpublished.
  • No changes can be made after submission.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in Current Oncology.
  • All abstracts must be in English and grammatically sound.
  • Conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the submission form.

Guidelines for Preparing Your Abstract

  1. Prepare the following information:
    • Presenting author – full name, e-mail, affiliation
    • Co-authors – names and affiliations
    • Preferred presentation type: Oral, Poster, or Either
    • Title and abstract text (≤ 300 words)
    • Topic (select from list below)
  2. Formatting:
    • Text only – no tables, figures, or bullet points inside the abstract body.
    • Structure your text with sub-headings: Background & Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
    • Use minimal abbreviations and write disease names without apostrophes (e.g., “Wilms tumour”).
    • Numbers > 999 include a comma (e.g., 2,000); decimal points use a period (4.89).
  3. Upon successful submission you will receive an abstract reference number via e-mail.

How to Submit an Abstract (Converia)

  1. Initiate Submission:
    Click Submit an Abstract on the congress website.
  2. Create Account or Log In:
    You’ll be redirected to the Converia portal. If you don’t have an account yet, choose Register and fill in your name, institution, and e-mail. If you already have an account, simply log in with your existing credentials.
  3. Complete Your Profile:
    Ensure all mandatory fields are filled out—especially the contact details of the presenting author.
  4. Start a New Abstract:
    In the Abstract Submission section, select New Abstract.
  5. Enter Authors & Presentation Type:
    Add all authors and select your preferred format.
  6. Provide Title, Topic & Text:
    Enter a title (≤ 25 words), your text (≤ 300 words), and choose a topic.
  7. Check Formatting & Upload Attachments:
    Ensure no tables/figures/bullets in the body; upload supplementary files if required.
  8. Acknowledge the Declaration:
    Read the Abstract Submitters’ Declaration and tick the checkbox.
  9. Preview & Final Check:
    Use the preview function to review your submission.
  10. Submit & Receive Confirmation:
    Click Submit. You’ll see an on-screen confirmation and receive an e-mail with your reference number.
  11. Track Your Submission:
    Under My Submissions, monitor status until notification of acceptance.

Research Presentation

12-minute oral presentation + 3 min Q&A.
Scheduled: Friday, 17 April 2026 09:00–10:00, 10:45–11:45, 15:15–16:15

Rapid Oral

7-minute talk + 3 min Q&A.
Scheduled: Friday, 17 April 2026 13:45–14:45

Poster Presentation

Interactive poster session, fostering detailed discussion.
Scheduled: Thursday, 16 April 2026 16:00–17:30

Abstract Topics

All abstracts must relate to physical activity, exercise, or rehabilitation in pediatric/adolescent oncology.

  • Intervention research – Designing, testing, evaluating exercise interventions.
  • Mechanisms / basic research – Biological & physiological mechanisms of exercise impact.
  • Program implementation & evaluation – Feasibility, effectiveness, sustainability in real-world settings.
  • Other – Observational studies, reviews, tool development, etc.

Selection Process

All abstracts are anonymized and scored by the Scientific Committee on relevance, quality, originality, and clarity. Decisions are final; presentation slots and content cannot be changed post-submission.

Young Investigator Award

Early-career researchers (≤ 35 years) are invited to apply for the KKH Mainz – Award for Young Investigators. To apply, upload a one-page CV and a one-page statement of academic achievement with your abstract.

Abstract Submitters’ Declaration

  1. Originality & Prior Presentation: The submitted work is original and has not been previously published, accepted, or presented at any meeting with > 500 attendees.
  2. Review & Finality: I confirm all information is accurate and acknowledge no changes after submission.
  3. Authorship & Approval: All co-authors have reviewed and approved the submission. The presenting author will be notified.
  4. Copyright & Third-Party Material: I own or have permission for all content and assume full responsibility.
  5. Ethics & Data Protection: I affirm compliance with ethical standards and GDPR.
  6. Animal Research: Experiments comply with relevant guidelines and approvals.
  7. Conflicts of Interest: I have disclosed all actual or potential conflicts.
  8. Publication Permission: I grant permission to publish the abstract in proceedings and affiliated journals.
  9. Registration & Presentation Commitment: If accepted, I will register, pay any fees, and attend in person.
  10. Data Privacy: I consent to the processing of my personal data under GDPR.
